It is to represent the beginning, end, and the different middles of the classical Ashtanga asana sequences. I wanted to create a minimalist expression of the fundamental opening and closing postures in a style that is intended to portray yoga asanas as simple essences and universally felt inner memories. I love to see them stripped down to an almost heiroglyphic alphabet state, rather than representing any ideals of gender, body composition, or physical identity.
